Firestone Park YMCA's Windemere Child Learning Center is an Akron Area YMCA-operated, SUTQ Gold-rated school-based care program serving Akron Public Schools students with wrap-around coverage from 6:30 AM before school through 2:30–6 PM after school. The program features peanut-free meals, secure entry with classroom cameras, and biannual staff professional development in partnership with Praesidium's child-safety training; staff hold CPR/First Aid certifications and are encouraged toward CDA credentials. Sliding-scale fees and YMCA membership benefits support affordability for working families accepting vouchers. The after-school model operates only during the school year with weekend and holiday activities held at the main YMCA branch, a structural reality for families requiring non-school-day coverage.
