Dublin Latchkey - Eli Pinney is a school-age program operated by the Dublin Latchkey nonprofit, which has served all 20 Dublin City Schools buildings since 1984. The program offers enrichment through STEM, robotics, art programs (including Young Rembrandts), sign language, and career-exploration activities, alongside homework assistance and daily snacks delivered on-site at the child's school building. With 97% of surveyed parents rating the program as good to excellent and staff that includes licensed K-12 teachers and childhood education degree-holders, it provides structured care before and after school (7:05–9:00 a.m. and 3:30–6:00 p.m.). The program accepts PFCC subsidy vouchers; however, as a school-age only provider, it is not a full-day preschool or infant/toddler option.
Curriculum & approach: Weekly lessons in math, science, cultural studies, and cooperative learning with dedicated homework assistance tables. Weekly 10-20 minute reading sessions and STEM curriculum integrated into educational activities.
Programs & activities: Robotics, sign language, Young Rembrandts art program, videography, guest speakers from occupations and community organizations, art contests, Latchkey Olympics, cultural celebrations, and philanthropic community activities.
What sets it apart: 1:12 student-to-teacher ratio. Approximately one-third of staff hold childhood education degrees or are licensed K-12 teachers; nearly 70% have at least two years college or bachelor's degree. Before-school care 7:05-9:00 a.m.; after-school care 3:30-6:00 p.m. All staff receive child abuse prevention, first aid, and communicable disease training. At least 3 CPR-certified staff per site.
