Finding the right childcare
in Bethel, Ohio

Bethel was founded in 1798 as an abolitionist community, becoming a crucial station on the Underground Railroad with Rev. Silas Chase, Dr. William Eberle Thompson, and Isaac Holmes Brown among its most active conductors helping freedom seekers to safety. The town's anti-slavery roots run deep—the Bethel Baptist Church was organized with a deed restriction barring slaveholders from its communion table, making it one of the first emancipating societies west of the Alleghenies. In 1805, Bethel made local history with Ohio's only recorded witchcraft trial, which ended remarkably peacefully when Nancy Evans was cleared by a Bible-and-scale test and went on to live out her life well respected by her neighbors.
