Bobby Lynn Maslen
Recognized in the Creative Minds Montessori 2026 Teacher’s Choice list.
Bobby Lynn Maslen is one of roughly one hundred authors whose work was selected by the Montessori-certified teachers at Creative Minds Montessori for the 2026 Teacher’s Choice list — 120 books chosen across four reading stages, from first lap-reads to first chapter books. The selected book was chosen for how precisely it meets children at a real developmental moment. This recognition cannot be bought: no author or publisher paid to appear on our lists, and we take no commission on any book sale.
About Bobby Lynn Maslen
Bobby Lynn Maslen taught three- to five-year-olds at a private school in Portland, Oregon, and it was there that she created the Bob Books; the first set was published in 1976.
Her husband John Maslen, a watercolour artist and former architect, illustrated the books. Portland State University published them first, and after a 1993 USA Today feature drove demand the Maslens partnered with Scholastic, which became the publisher in 1994.
