Emily Gravett
Recognized in the Creative Minds Montessori 2026 Teacher’s Choice list.
Emily Gravett is one of roughly one hundred authors whose work was selected by the Montessori-certified teachers at Creative Minds Montessori for the 2026 Teacher’s Choice list — 120 books chosen across four reading stages, from first lap-reads to first chapter books. The selected book was chosen for how precisely it meets children at a real developmental moment. This recognition cannot be bought: no author or publisher paid to appear on our lists, and we take no commission on any book sale.
About Emily Gravett
Emily Gravett is an English author-illustrator who has won two CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals, for Wolves (2005) and Little Mouse's Big Book of Fears (2008). Her books are witty and interactive, often making a game of the physical book itself.
She left school at 16 and travelled Great Britain for eight years, living in a variety of vehicles, before taking an illustration degree at Brighton. She made Wolves there as a course project, chewing the dummy herself to mimic the marks of a wolf's teeth.
