Grace Lin
Recognized in the Creative Minds Montessori 2026 Teacher’s Choice list.
Grace Lin is one of roughly one hundred authors whose work was selected by the Montessori-certified teachers at Creative Minds Montessori for the 2026 Teacher’s Choice list — 120 books chosen across four reading stages, from first lap-reads to first chapter books. The selected book was chosen for how precisely it meets children at a real developmental moment. This recognition cannot be bought: no author or publisher paid to appear on our lists, and we take no commission on any book sale.
About Grace Lin
Grace Lin studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and has written and illustrated more than twenty books — board books, picture books, early readers and novels. She has a Newbery Honor for Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, a Caldecott Honor for A Big Mooncake for Little Star, and a Theodor Geisel Honor for Ling & Ting.
Lin grew up in upstate New York as the only Asian girl, besides her sisters, at her elementary school — an experience she says has influenced her books — and her TEDx talk, 'The Windows and Mirrors of Your Child's Bookshelf', is about what children do and don't see on their shelves.
