Why it fits Page Grabbers (for young toddlers who treat books as things to do)

A gentle script for goodbyes: wave, blow a kiss, get on with the day. Written by a childhood-development specialist for exactly this transition. Practical enough that teachers keep copies in the classroom.

What makes it special

It's a script more than a story: wave, blow a kiss, take a breath, begin your day. The soft, rounded illustrations keep the emotional temperature deliberately low — this is a calm-down book that practices what it preaches. Written by a child-development specialist, it's the rare 'tool book' toddlers actually request.

About Elizabeth Verdick

Elizabeth Verdick worked as an editor of children's books before becoming an author, and holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Hamline University. Her Toddler Tools series — published by Free Spirit Publishing, whose focus is social-emotional learning — grew out of the books she wished she had had when she was a mother of toddlers, to help little ones learn daily routines and reach developmental milestones.
