Aaron Becker worked as a visual-development artist for film studios like Lucasfilm before Journey, his wordless debut, earned a Caldecott Honor and launched a trilogy praised as cinema on paper.
Becker built Journey's world with a filmmaker's pipeline — architectural studies, light scripts, story reels — then removed every word, trusting children to direct the film themselves.
