About Anna Dewdney
Anna Dewdney (1965–2016) was a teacher and single mother whose Llama Llama books — drawn from her daughters' real bedtime dramas — became one of the best-loved series in preschool literature, continued today in her memory.
She worked as a waitress, mail carrier, and teacher through twenty years of rejections before Llama Llama Red Pajama sold; when she died, her obituary asked that instead of a funeral, people read to a child.
