Recognized in the Creative Minds Montessori 2026 Teacher’s Choice list.
E.B. White is one of roughly one hundred authors whose work was selected by the Montessori-certified teachers at Creative Minds Montessori for the 2026 Teacher’s Choice list — 120 books chosen across four reading stages, from first lap-reads to first chapter books. The selected book was chosen for how precisely it meets children at a real developmental moment. This recognition cannot be bought: no author or publisher paid to appear on our lists, and we take no commission on any book sale.

About E.B. White
E.B. White (1899–1985) was The New Yorker's defining essayist and co-author of The Elements of Style — and, in three children's books, the writer who proved a child's novel could be literature. Charlotte's Web won a Newbery Honor and everyone's heart.
White kept animals on his Maine farm and wrote Charlotte's Web after watching a spider spin an egg sac in his barn doorway — he carried the sac to his desk when he moved back to New York, and the spiderlings hatched among his papers.
