Molly Bang — Teacher's Choice Author 2026

Molly Bang is one of roughly one hundred authors whose work was selected by the Montessori-certified teachers at Creative Minds Montessori for the 2026 Teacher’s Choice list — 120 books chosen across four reading stages, from first lap-reads to first chapter books. The selected book was chosen for how precisely it meets children at a real developmental moment. About Molly Bang

Molly Bang is a four-time Caldecott Honor artist and the author of Picture This, the standard text on how picture composition creates emotion — she is, in effect, both practitioner and theorist of the picture book.

Bang studied Japanese and worked as an interpreter and journalist in Japan before illustration; her analytical mind turned to why images move us, and Sophie's visual anger is her theory made practice.
