About Sandra Boynton

Sandra Boynton is a cartoonist, songwriter, and one-woman industry of deadpan animal comedy, with over 70 million books sold. Her specialty is respecting a toddler's intelligence while refusing to take anything else seriously.

Boynton began in greeting cards while still a Yale drama student — her hippo birthday card ('Hippo Birdie Two Ewes') sold in the millions — and she carried that perfect-timing card sensibility into board books when her own children were small. She also produces Grammy-nominated children's albums with guests like Meryl Streep and B.B. King.
